City of Sterling Special Question

Shall the following be adopted?

Within the city of Sterling, Kansas, shall sale at retail of cereal malt beverage and alcoholic liquor in the original package be allowed on any Sunday, except Easter, not earlier than 9 a.m. and not later than 8 p.m.?

USD 444 Special Question

Shall the voting plan and method of election of the Board of Education of Unified School District No. 444, Little River, Rice County, Kansas, be changed, pursuant to 72-1081 et seq, from the present three (3) member district, one (1) at-large, method of election and Voting Plan B, in which all electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law and who reside in the member district may vote in the primary election for the member positions of such member districts and for the at-large member position.  All electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in a particular member district may vote for all positions in the general election but may vote only for candidates in their member district in the primary election.

The change is proposed to be to the at-large method of election under which the school district is not divided into any member districts and all board members are elected at large, and to Voting Plan A under which all electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the school district may vote in both the primary and general election for all member positions.

“Shall a change in the method of election and voting plan, as described in the ballot title above, be approved?”

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in Mitchell, Wilson, Atlanta, and Harrison Townships and the City of Lyons, is the Celebration Centre.

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in East Washington, West Washington, Sterling and Valley Townships and in the City of Sterling and Alden, is the Sterling Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in Odessa, Rockville, and Union Townships, and in the City of Little River, is the Dwight Lamson Post 258, The American Legion.

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in Lincoln, Pioneer, Bell, Raymond, and Center Townships, and the Cities of Chase and Raymond is the Chase Senior Center.

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in Eureka and Farmer Townships, and the Cities of Bushton and Frederick, is the Bushton Community Building.

The polling place for all qualified electors residing in Galt and Victoria Township, the City of Geneseo, and electors of USD 444 residing in Thomas and Trivoli Townships in Ellsworth County, is the Hangout building.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Advance voting begins Wednesday, October 13, 2021 and is available Monday – Friday 8 a.m.  - 5 p.m. until 12 p.m. (noon), November 1st in the County Clerk’s Office.
