ORDINANCE NO. 2850

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 15-208(b) AND ADOPTING THIS ORDINANCE IN ITS PLACE.

WITNESSETH:

WHEREAS, the Governing Body of the City of Sterling, Kansas, has charged different electric service rates for rural customers outside the city limits than customers within the City; and

WHEREAS, the Kansas Corporation Commission has determined that such difference in electrical rates for rural customers should not be permitted; and 

WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Sterling, Kansas in order to adhere to the regulations of the KCC has determined to eliminate such pricing. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF STERLING, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:

1) Section 15-208(b) of Chapter
XV of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Sterling, Kan-
sas is hereby repealed. 

2) In place of the repealed Sec-
tion 15-208(b) of Chapter XV
of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Sterling, Kan-
sas the following new Sec-
tion 15-208(b) is hereby en-
acted:

“b) Rural-Residential Rate
(service outside the City lim-
its)

1) The electrical energy
rates for Rural-Residen-
tial customers are here-
by the same rates,
terms, and condi-
tions as for City-
Residential customers,
as set forth at Section
15-208, paragraphs (1),
(2), and (3).”

3) This ordinance shall take ef-
fect upon its adoption and
publication in the official City
newspaper. 

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the governing body of the City of Sterling, Kansas, this 15th day of September, 2025.
